Recently, an eight-member delegation headed by Mr. Dieter GOERTZ from the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) of Germany visited the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture (IEDA), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). Dr. YAO Zonglu, Deputy Director General of IEDA, met with the delegation.
Dr. YAO Zonglu extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and gave some basic information about IEDA, including areas of research, platforms and bases and international cooperation, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening cooperation. The two sides had a pragmatic discussion on key issues such as climate change, agricultural ecology and food security, and explored the experiences and practices of China and Germany in related fields. Both sides hoped that they could further enhance substantive exchanges and cooperation in the field of agricultural environment and work together to promote innovations in argo-environmental science and technology and sustainable development of agriculture by bringing into play their own strengths.
Dr. Juergen Ritter, German Managing Director of the Sino-German Agricultural Center (DCZ), accompanied the delegation during the visit. IEDA's Division of Research Management and International Cooperation, Team of Climate Change and Carbon Sequestration and Mitigation, Team of Smart Meteorology and Utilization of Agro-climate Resources, Team of Biological Water Conservation and Dryland Agriculture, Team of Plant Environmental Engineering of Protected Agriculture, Team of Environmental Science and Engineering for Animal Husbandry, and Team of Agricultural Clean Watershed attended the meeting.
