Over the past six decades, environmental awareness has been raised as agro-environmental problems grow prominent in China. IEDA has developed a more complete discipline system of agricultural resources and environment centering on the initial agricultural meteorology, and gradually formed such advantageous and emerging disciplines as agricultural meteorology, water resources and environment for agriculture, agricultural and biological environmental engineering, agricultural materials engineering, and agricultural ecology. It has formed 11 scientific research and innovation teams with abundant human resources and reasonable professional structure, covering climate change and carbon sequestration and mitigation, smart meteorology and utilization of agro-climate resources, ago-meteorological disaster prevention and control, biological water conservation and dryland agriculture, novel water-saving materials and agricultural film pollution control, plant environmental engineering of protected agriculture, environmental science and engineering for animal husbandry, clean conversion and high-value utilization of farming waste, multifunctional nanomaterials and agricultural applications, remediation of degraded and contaminated farmland, and agricultural clean watershed. By the end of 2022, there were 200 employees in service, including 66 professors and 64 associate professors.
