1. Research Concerns
(1) The impacts and risks of climate change on the food system
To address the threat of global climate change on food system security, the team conducts research on the impacts of climate change on crop yield and quality, develops gene-based crop models and climate-crop quality correlation models to assess the impacts of climate change on crop quality; deepens research into mechanisms of efficient utilization of carbon dioxide, light, heat and other climate resources, builds the FACE+ research and development platform for utilization of climate resources, and develops technologies to explore and tap the potential of agro-climate resources.
(2) Research and development of adaptation and mitigation synergy technologies
Based on the scientific concept of adaptation and mitigation synergy, the team builds a life-cycle assessment (LCA) accounting platform for carbon emissions from agricultural parks, develops adaptation and mitigation synergy technologies such as microalgae-based carbon sequestration and photovoltaic agriculture, explores the carbon neutral accounting methodology and certification technology system for the whole value chain of agricultural products, develops methodological guidelines and a standard system for synergistic adaptation and mitigation, and gropes for the pathway to carbon neutral agriculture, so as to provide scientific and technological support for China's carbon neutral vision.
