At present, IEDA is a subsidiary organization of the Secretariat of the Chinese Expert Panel of the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases, a leading organization of the Steering Group for Agricultural Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and a member organization of the Advisory Expert Group for Environmental Impact Assessment of Invasive Alien Species under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA). It is also a support organization of the national key research and development programs in many disciplines, the National 973 Program and the National 863 Program, and a chief scientist organization for special public-welfare research and development projects in industries. IEDA leads the development and construction of disciplines on agricultural and rural environment under the auspices of MARA. It is also a major contributor to the National Agro-Environmental Data Center and a leading organization of the National Science and Technology Innovation Alliance on Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality in Agriculture and Rural Areas, the National Alliance on Agricultural Waste Recycling Innovation, and the National Alliance on Science and Technology Innovation in Dryland Agriculture. IEDA has led the Second National Census of Agricultural Pollution Sources: livestock and poultry production and mulching film. It is ranked No.10 overall and No.1 in terms of agro-environment in the Comprehensive Research Capacity Assessment of National Agricultural Research Institutions.
