Recently, in order to further strengthen China-Germany cooperation and exchanges in agricultural science and technology, a German delegation consisting of 13 experts from Julius Kuhn-Institut (JKI), Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO), George-August-University of Göttingen, University of Bonn, and Sino-German Agricultural Center (DCZ) visited the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture (IEDA), CAAS.
Dr. HAO Weiping, Deputy Director General of IEDA, extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and introduced IEDA's research areas, platforms and bases, and international cooperation, while expressing his expectation for closer exchanges and cooperation in agro-environment with the German side. The two sides shared their experience in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction, climate change adaptation, protected agriculture, and water resources utilization, and explored new opportunities for future cooperation.
During the visit, the delegation visited IEDA's comprehensive experimental base in Shunyi, especially the exhibition room, the agricultural film R&D technology workshop, the agricultural waste fermentation technology workshop, the long-term monitoring site for ecological effects of returning straw to field, global change response experimental platform CAAS-FACE arrays, photovoltaic agriculture experiments, comprehensive observational experiments on long-term factors, and multi-span greenhouses for protected agriculture, among others. The two sides then exchanged views on the content of research to further enhance the understanding of each other's relevant research areas.
Relevant heads and experts of IEDA's Department of Research Management and International Cooperation, Department of Condition Assurance, Team of Smart Meteorology and Utilization of Agro-climate Resources, Team of Agro-meteorological Disaster Prevention and Control, Team of Novel Water-saving Materials and Agricultural Film Pollution Control, Team of Biological Water Conservation and Dryland Agriculture, Team of Plant Environmental Engineering of Protected Agriculture, Team of Clean Conversion and High-value Utilization of Farming Waste, Team of Remediation of Degraded and Contaminated Farmland, and Team of Agricultural Clean Watershed were present.
